TLDR The new hair treatment significantly reduces hair shedding safely.
This study evaluated the efficacy of a novel topical formulation, DA-OTC-002, combining synephrine and TAAR agonists, in reducing hair shedding in women. Seventy-six female participants applied DA-OTC-002 to one side of their scalp and a placebo to the other for 5 minutes. The results showed a significant reduction in hair shedding on the treated side, with an average reduction of 62.5% compared to the placebo side. Specifically, the treatment group shed 13.63 ± 11.28 hairs versus 36.26 ± 12.74 hairs in the control group, a mean difference of 22.63 hairs (95% CI 19.25-26.01, p < 0.0001). No adverse events were reported, suggesting that the combined formulation is effective and safe for reducing hair shedding. Future research should explore its efficacy in combination with minoxidil.
