An adolescent girl with a 6-month history of itchy alopecic patches and pus discharge on her scalp showed minimal improvement after 3 months of oral doxycycline. Dermoscopic examination revealed coiled, corkscrew-shaped hairs at the margins of the alopecic patches. Treatment over 6 weeks resulted in hair regrowth and no new alopecia patches.
