TLDR Comprehensive treatment improved hearing in 89.7% of soldiers with blast-induced hearing loss.
In Ukraine, due to the war, many soldiers have suffered from acoustic trauma, a severe condition requiring comprehensive examination and treatment. The State Institute of Otolaryngology in Kyiv, in collaboration with military hospitals, has developed treatment protocols for acoustic trauma, assisting thousands of soldiers. A study of 207 soldiers with blast-induced acoustic trauma and sensorineural hearing disorders showed that comprehensive treatment, including various medications and physiotherapy methods, resulted in positive outcomes in 89.7% of cases. The effectiveness of treatment depends on the severity of the injury, the presence of additional injuries, the promptness of treatment initiation, and targeted therapy with instrumental monitoring.
