TLDR Aloe vera gel helps heal open wounds better than coconut oil.
The study examined the impact of Aloe vera gel and coconut oil on wound healing in 42 Wistar albino rats. The rats were divided into three groups of 14, each receiving either Aloe vera gel, coconut oil, or cold cream topically. Over a 14-day period, the healing process was assessed through clinical evaluation, histopathological, and biochemical data. The results indicated that Aloe vera gel significantly enhanced the healing process of open wounds compared to coconut oil and cold cream (P < 0.05), suggesting that Aloe vera gel could be a viable alternative for treating open wounds.
