This study compared the efficacy of ibuprofen and acetaminophen in managing postoperative pain after the removal of third molars in the mandible. Involving 100 patients aged 18 to 35, the study found that those who took ibuprofen (400 mg every 6 hours) experienced significantly less pain and inflammation than those who took acetaminophen (500 mg every 6 hours) over a 48-hour period. Pain intensity was measured using a visual analog scale, and inflammatory response was assessed through C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 levels. The results suggest that ibuprofen is more effective than acetaminophen for postoperative pain and inflammation control, providing a basis for optimizing pain management strategies in dental procedures.
