This study investigates the communication preferences of patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) in otolaryngology clinics, focusing on their preferred types of professional language interpretation services. Conducted at 5 Loyola University Medical Center sites, the study involves LEP adult patients and caregivers of pediatric patients completing a questionnaire in their native language. The questionnaire gathers data on demographics, language proficiency, health status, and preferences for language support services. The study aims to identify correlations between health literacy, language barriers, and communication preferences, with the goal of designing targeted interventions to reduce healthcare disparities and improve outcomes for LEP patients.
