CLINICAL STUDY OF CUTANEOUS MANIFESTATION OF GERIATRIC AGE GROUP

    The study focused on the cutaneous manifestations in the geriatric population, involving 200 patients over 60 years old. The most common age group was 61-65 years, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.81:1. Diabetes mellitus was the most prevalent associated systemic disease. Common skin changes included wrinkling (92%), xerosis (54%), and senile lentigines (15.5%). Pathological conditions observed were eczematous conditions (25.5%), infections (32.5%), and benign skin tumors like cherry angiomas (52.5%). Malignant conditions included basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, each in 2 cases. The study highlighted the prevalence of various dermatological conditions in the elderly, emphasizing the need for specialized geriatric dermatology care.
