The study investigated the effects of chitosan derived from Lucilia cuprina on burn wound healing in diabetic mice. Chitosan, known for its low allergenicity and biocompatibility, was applied topically and showed superior results in accelerating wound closure, particularly in insulin-treated groups. The treatment also promoted earlier epidermal remodeling and collagen deposition. However, diabetic groups experienced delayed hair growth and impaired wound closure. Chitosan demonstrated antibacterial properties, protecting burns from contamination. The study suggested further research to explore potential synergistic combination therapies.
