TLDR Early diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp diseases in children can improve their growth and mental health.
The study aimed to evaluate hair and scalp diseases in children by reviewing 5,385 patient files from a dermatology clinic, focusing on 546 cases with complete data. The most common conditions identified were seborrheic dermatitis (33.2%), alopecia areata (15.9%), and telogen effluvium (14.1%). The prevalence of these diseases varied by age and gender, with certain conditions like pityriasis capitis simplex and telogen effluvium more common in girls, while alopecia areata and tinea capitis were more frequent in boys. Early diagnosis and treatment of these conditions were suggested to positively impact children's growth and psychological development.
