Chemotherapy-Related Adverse Effects with Anthracycline and Taxane-Containing Regimens in Patients with Localized Breast Cancer: A Descriptive Study

    This study examined the short-term adverse effects of anthracycline and taxane chemotherapy regimens in 122 Moroccan women with localized breast cancer. It found that anthracyclines were linked to higher rates of asthenia (79.5%), vomiting (87.7%), and nausea (82.8%), while taxanes were associated with increased neurotoxicity and arthromyalgia (74.6% and 62.3%). Both regimens resulted in high rates of alopecia (96.7% with anthracyclines and 95.1% with taxanes). The study emphasizes the need for effective management of these side effects and suggests developing a mobile health app for better patient follow-up. Further research is recommended to expand the patient population and include toxicity grading.
