TLDR EPDS is a rare, chronic scalp condition that's hard to treat and needs better awareness for improved outcomes.
Erosive pustular dermatosis of the scalp (EPDS) was identified as a rare, chronic, and progressive inflammatory condition affecting the actinically damaged scalp, particularly in older individuals with a history of treatment for actinic damage and keratoses. A cross-sectional prospective study at a tertiary care center included six cases of EPDS from 2017 to 2019. The study highlighted the difficulty in treating EPDS, which often persists despite various treatments. Increased awareness and accurate diagnosis were emphasized as crucial for improving patient outcomes by preventing further scalp damage and addressing precipitating factors.
