TLDR Calcium is essential for plant root growth and function.
Calcium (Ca2+) is crucial for plant root growth and development, playing roles in cell wall structure, enzyme activity, and cellular signaling. Recent research has advanced our understanding of how roots absorb and redistribute Ca2+, highlighting its importance in root and root hair growth, microbial defense, and root symbioses. The findings reveal complex regulatory networks involving Ca2+, though much remains to be explored in this area.
