Burn-Derived Stem Cells: A Promising New Cell Source for Skin Regeneration

    R. Dölp
TLDR Burned skin contains healthy stem cells that can help heal wounds.
The study investigated the potential of burn-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BD-MSCs) for skin regeneration, comparing them to umbilical cord MSCs. It was found that BD-MSCs retained key biological functions despite burn trauma and were effective in promoting wound healing in animal models, including mice and pigs. The results suggested that burned skin could be a viable source of MSCs for wound healing, although further research was needed to fully understand their role.
