TLDR People with blood group O may have a higher risk of developing post-COVID-19 syndrome.
The study "Blood group O and post-COVID-19 syndrome" conducted a case-control study on 121 subjects who had experienced mild COVID-19 to assess the association between blood group O and post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS). The study found that blood group O was associated with a 4-fold increased risk of PCS compared to non-O blood groups (adjusted OR=4.20 [95%CI, 1.2-14]; p=0.023). In addition, O-group PCS+ patients had significantly higher lymphocyte count, higher levels of fibrinogen and CRP, and higher percentages of 3 composite indices, than PCS- subjects. These findings suggest that blood group O may be a risk factor for developing PCS after a mild COVID-19 infection.
