Bioprospecting of Pontianak's Aloe Vera as an Indonesian Plant for Cosmeceutical: A Review

    The review paper discusses the potential of Pontianak Aloe Vera (PAV), a plant native to Indonesia, as a cosmeceutical ingredient. The plant is known for its medicinal and cosmetic benefits and contains chemical compounds such as aloemoedin, aloebarbadiod, vitamin C, collagen, polysaccharides, enzymes, and minerals. Products derived from PAV, including gels, creams, lotions, liquid soaps, and powders, have been reported to have various benefits for skin and hair care. Specifically, these products can stimulate hair growth and act as an anti-dandruff treatment. Other benefits for the skin include maintaining moisture and hydration, acting as a sunscreen, stimulating the growth of fibroblasts for post-surgery wound treatment, brightening the skin, reducing acne severity, and maintaining skin elasticity.
