Bilateral Xen Used as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery for Glaucoma in GAPO Syndrome: Case Report

TLDR Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery can effectively manage glaucoma in GAPO syndrome when other treatments fail.
This case report discusses a 36-year-old woman with GAPO syndrome, a rare congenital disease characterized by growth retardation, alopecia, pseudo-anodontia, and progressive optic atrophy, who also has primary open-angle glaucoma. Despite medical therapy, her glaucoma remained uncontrolled, leading to the use of XEN gelatin micro-stent implantation in both eyes as a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). This is the first reported case of a patient with GAPO syndrome undergoing this procedure, suggesting that MIGS can be an effective option for managing glaucoma in GAPO syndrome when medical treatments fail.
