TLDR Anionic surfactants significantly improve the foaming of minoxidil gel shampoo.
The study investigated the influence of different surfactants and sodium chloride on the foaming properties of a gel shampoo containing minoxidil, a medication used for hair growth. It was found that anionic surfactants had the most significant impact on foaming ability. The optimal formulation for the 1% minoxidil gel shampoo included 5% ethoxylated sodium lauryl sulfate, 5% coco glucoside C8-C16, 7% cocamide propyl betaine, and 1% sodium chloride, which provided the best foaming properties. This formulation aimed to enhance the therapeutic effect and user compliance compared to existing imported lotions and sprays on the Ukrainian market.
