TLDR The British Association of Dermatologists celebrated 100 years by looking back at important research, including work on hair loss, skin condition impact, psoriasis treatment, and skin cancer rates.
In 2020, the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) celebrated its centenary by reflecting on landmark publications in its journals, the BJD and Clinical and Experimental Dermatology (CED). Notable papers included Ludwig's classification of androgenetic alopecia in women, based on 468 cases, and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), which has been cited over 2000 times and is a key tool in assessing the impact of skin conditions on quality of life. The paper also highlighted a randomized controlled trial of etanercept for psoriasis involving 583 participants, which showed significant improvement in symptoms. The most-cited BJD paper since 2010 was a systematic review of worldwide incidence of nonmelanoma skin cancer, with the highest rates found in Australia.
