    TLDR Aquatic plants in northern Bihar are vital for local livelihoods and need protection and sustainable management.
    The study conducted in the Darbhanga District of northern Bihar, India, surveyed aquatic macrophytes in perennial water bodies and identified 61 species, primarily Angiosperms. It emphasized the commercial and medicinal potential of these plants, which are crucial for the livelihoods of local communities. The research highlighted the risks of degradation and loss of these resources and recommended further assessment and valuation of the ecosystem services provided by the wetlands. The findings aimed to inform conservation strategies that promote sustainable management and enhance the livelihood security of indigenous communities.
