TLDR Understanding the 2D:4D digit ratio in vitiligo patients may help in clinical assessments.
This study investigated the relationship between digit length, digit (2D:4D) ratio, and vitiligo in 98 adult subjects (69 females and 29 males) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Measurements of the second and fourth fingers were taken, and correlations were analyzed. In females, significant positive correlations were found between 2D and 4D lengths for both hands, while a negative correlation existed between 4D length and digit ratio for the right hand. In males, significant positive correlations were observed between 2D and 4D lengths for both hands. The study concluded that understanding the 2D:4D ratio in vitiligo patients could aid clinical anthropometry, but further research is needed due to the small sample size.
