TLDR Animal research has greatly advanced dermatology.
The paper reviews the significant contributions of small animal experiments to dermatology, focusing on articles from the A.M.A. Archives of Dermatology and Syphilology and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology between 1932 and 1952. Approximately 90 articles from the former and 100 from the latter journal were analyzed. The selection of species for these studies was influenced by a survey of animals used by American researchers and presentations at scientific meetings.
