TLDR Anemia in pregnant women is linked to being younger, having lower income, and drinking coffee, while regular check-ups and age reduce risk.
The study conducted in 2021 across health centers in Casablanca-Settat and Marrakech-Safi involved 503 pregnant women to identify factors affecting anemia. It found that most anemic women had hypochromic microcytic anemia, were housewives with lower income, and were younger on average than non-anemic women. Iron supplementation was common, with 75.5% of participants taking it, and anemia signs like pallor, hair loss, and headache were significant. Anemia risk decreased with age and regular pregnancy follow-up, while coffee consumption increased the risk.
