TLDR Anemia in pregnant women is influenced by age, antenatal care, and diet, with coffee increasing risk.
A study conducted in 2021 across five health centers in Casablanca-Settat and Marrakech-Safi examined anemia in 503 pregnant women. The study found that 74.3% of anemic women had hypochromic microcytic anemia, and most were housewives with lower incomes. Anemia was less common in older women and those who received antenatal care, while coffee consumption increased anemia risk. Iron supplementation was common, with 75.5% of participants taking it. Key symptoms of anemia included pallor, hair loss, and headaches. The study highlights the importance of age, antenatal care, and dietary habits in managing anemia during pregnancy.
