TLDR Hair loss and growth can be accurately measured using computer-assisted counting.
The document describes a study by The Upjohn Company that measured hair density in the frontoparietal area of the scalp of women without androgenetic alopecia. The study found that the number of nonvellus hairs was similar in each quadrant of the scalp, and accurate assessment of hair loss and growth could be achieved using a computer-assisted hair-counting technique. The study involved 62 subjects and was conducted 32 years ago.
