TLDR Human hair proteins have similar cysteine and glycine levels to skin proteins.
The study from 1989 investigated the amino acid compositions of human hair fibrous protein components using two-dimensional electrophoresis. It found that while crude hair fibrous proteins had high cysteine and low glycine contents compared to stratum corneum fibrous proteins, the purified components showed similar cysteine and glycine levels to those of the stratum corneum. This suggested that fibrous protein components in normal human hair were similar to those in the stratum corneum regarding these amino acids.
