Clinical, Demographic, and Laboratory Features of Patients with Alopecia Areata in Tokat Region

    The study investigated the demographic characteristics of 246 patients with alopecia areata in the Tokat region, comparing them to 87 control subjects. The patient group consisted of 101 females (41.1%) and 145 males (58.9%), with a mean age of 29.84 years. The study found no significant differences in free T3, free T4, hemogram, ferritin, vitamin B12, and folate levels between patients and controls. However, TSH levels were significantly higher in the alopecia areata group (p=0.03). The findings were consistent with other studies in the country, although some differences were noted.
