The use of fresh whole leaf aloe vera was reported by C. E. and Creston Collins in 1935 to effectively treat a severe case of roentgen dermatitis in a 31-year-old woman. After various treatments failed, aloe vera application alleviated itching and burning within 24 hours, leading to complete skin regeneration, new hair growth, restored sensation, and no scarring within five weeks.
