TLDR Poodles' hair changes aren't always linked to calcium, and special staining is needed to detect true calcium deposits.
The study investigated perifollicular changes in the hair follicle glassy membrane of poodles, focusing on whether these changes were always associated with calcium deposition. It involved 147 dogs divided into three groups: 91 normal poodles, 40 dogs of other breeds, and 16 dogs diagnosed with hyperadrenocorticism. The findings revealed that these changes in poodles were not consistently linked to calcium deposition. The study concluded that specific staining is necessary to accurately identify true calcium deposition during histological examinations of poodle skin.
