TLDR Some medications caused temporary health issues that improved after stopping the drugs, but two patients died from liver problems linked to carbamazepine.
The document detailed various adverse drug reactions and interactions. A 44-year-old woman had temporary vision issues from propranolol, which resolved after 20 days. Two men, aged 64 and 59, suffered cardiotoxicity from fluorouracil treatment, with one experiencing a cardiac arrest. A 58-year-old woman's corneal anesthesia from timolol maleate for glaucoma resolved upon stopping the medication. An 18-year-old man's alopecia from metoprolol for hypertension improved after discontinuation. A 71-year-old woman faced severe metabolic alkalosis from fludrocortisone due to poor monitoring. A 63-year-old man's congestive cardiac failure worsened from an indomethacin and diuretics interaction, which resolved after stopping indomethacin. A 9-year-old girl had pure red blood cell aplasia from sodium valproate for seizures, which resolved post-discontinuation. A 17-year-old girl developed Sydenham's chorea from an oral contraceptive, which resolved after stopping the medication. Two fatal cases of hepatitis were associated with carbamazepine; a 37-year-old woman with alcohol abuse history and a 23-year-old woman with epilepsy both died despite discontinuation and supportive therapy. Lastly, a 74-year-old woman's urinary incontinence from prazosin for hypertension resolved after stopping the drug, indicating the drug may lower urethral pressure. Monitoring for hepatic toxicity was emphasized, especially in patients with potential liver compromise.
