    TLDR Different medications can cause serious side effects in some people.

Notable cases included lead poisoning from Ayurvedic herbal medications in a 64-year-old male, priapism linked to fluphenazine in a 55-year-old male, and psychosis from self-medicating with St. John's Wort in a 25-year-old male. A study on 448 pediatric cardiac patients found spironolactone did not reduce potassium supplementation needs. In 166 Korean Alzheimer patients, lower BMI was linked to more adverse events from donepezil. Other cases included mania from an oral decongestant in a 10-year-old with autism, prolonged withdrawal from phenibut in a 32-year-old male, and various reactions to medications like clozapine, eculizumab, OROS methylphenidate, clindamycin, loxapine, and metformin.
