TLDR Adding Triamcinolone to the tumescent solution is more effective in preventing post-operative swelling after hair transplants.
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of different methods for preventing post-operative edema in patients undergoing hair transplants. Conducted at Bashir Hospital in Sialkot from March 2016 to April 2018, the study involved 97 male patients with typical male baldness patterns. The patients were divided into two groups: Group A (45 patients) received a tumescent solution with steroids, achieving a 93.3% success rate in preventing edema, while Group B (57 patients) received an oral steroid course postoperatively for 5 days, with a 57.8% success rate. The study concluded that adding the steroid Triamcinolone to the tumescent solution was more effective in preventing post-operative edema.
