TLDR The scalp serum reduced scalp discomfort and symptoms without affecting skin moisture loss.
A study involving 42 subjects tested a once-daily topical scalp serum containing Adenosine, Magnesium Sulfate, Vitamin C Glucoside, and pre- and probiotic fractions for reducing discomfort and symptoms of sensitive scalp. The serum significantly reduced discomfort, itching, stinging, warming sensation, and scratching immediately after the first application, with improvements lasting until the end of the study (28 days). It also reduced squalene monohydroperoxide levels, indicating a decrease in oxidative stress. However, it did not reduce Transepidermal Water Loss. The serum was well-tolerated and subject satisfaction was high, suggesting it could be beneficial in managing sensitive scalp. The study was conducted by employees of L’Oréal Group and funded by Laboratoires Vichy International, France.
