TLDR Different factors like age, size, and location of subway stations affect sales of hair salons, coffee shops, and convenience stores in Seoul differently.
The study analyzed the impact of subway station characteristics on the sales of hair salons, coffee/beverage stores, and convenience stores in the Seoul station area. The results showed that these businesses were affected differently by the characteristics of subway stations, regional characteristics, and location characteristics. Hair salons had higher sales when they were older and had clear advantages in accessibility and connectivity. Coffee/beverage stores had higher sales when the subway station was larger and had more related commercial facilities. Convenience stores had higher sales when the station connectivity was good and the subway station was relatively small. All businesses had increased sales the closer they were to the Gangnam District (GBD). The study provides a practical basis for decision-making by prospective entrepreneurs or policy makers, but it is limited by the available data and the focus on specific industries.
