A rare adverse event following laser hair reduction

    Corey Stone, Alexis Lara Rivero
This article highlights a rare adverse event, Fox-Fordyce disease (FFD), following laser hair reduction treatment, as observed in a 31-year-old female patient. FFD is a chronic skin disorder characterized by pruritic papules, often triggered by trauma such as laser treatments. The case emphasizes the need for awareness among women considering laser hair reduction, as FFD can be a potential side effect. The patient had a history of scalp alopecia and developed axillary papules after her fourth laser session. Diagnosis was confirmed through clinical examination and biopsy. While there is no definitive cure, treatments like topical retinoids and steroids can manage symptoms. The article calls for increased awareness and consideration of FFD as a differential diagnosis in similar clinical scenarios.
