A Case Report on Recurrent Trichilemmal Carcinoma of Scalp- Role of Clinico-Radiological Correlation

Tanmoy Bihari Das, Dr Madan Mohan Babu, Dr Suresh A
This case report discusses a rare instance of recurrent trichilemmal carcinoma of the scalp, a malignant adnexal tumor originating from the external hair sheath of hair follicles, which accounts for less than 0.005% of adnexal carcinomas. Despite its rarity and indolent clinical course, the tumor can be locally aggressive but generally has a good survival rate following excision. The report emphasizes the importance of clinico-radiological and pathological correlation in diagnosing this condition, as it can mimic other carcinomas such as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and sebaceous carcinoma. The case was presented to the outpatient department of Radiation Oncology at the reporting institute.
