The study from 2015 investigated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in treating androgenetic alopecia in 18 patients. The treatment consisted of three subcutaneous PRP injections at 21-day intervals. Results indicated an average improvement in hair growth of 33.12% as per patient self-assessment and 26.25% according to an external observer. Women experienced a higher average improvement than men, with 42.85% and 35.71% improvement reported by patients and the external observer, respectively, compared to 25.55% and 18.88% for men. Dermoscopy showed hair thickening, improved circulation, and more follicles. The study concluded that PRP is an efficient and satisfactory treatment for androgenetic alopecia, with minimal side effects, and could be a valuable adjunct to other therapies.
