    The author of this document shared his personal journey towards mindfulness, which began with a burst appendix and subsequent complications, including an umbilical hernia and transient ischemic attack. Despite these health challenges, all tests for serious conditions came back negative. His cardiologist suggested that his symptoms were psychological, likely panic attacks, and recommended he read Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" to practice mindfulness. The author adopted a healthier lifestyle, including a better diet, regular exercise, and practicing mindfulness. He reported that these changes seemed to be beneficial, as indicated by his blood pressure reading of 110 over 70.
