TLDR Psoriasis and gout are linked, with each increasing the risk of the other.
This systematic review and meta-analysis found a significant bidirectional association between psoriasis and gout, suggesting shared inflammatory mechanisms in their pathogenesis. The study included 30 articles and revealed that gout patients are 1.36 times more likely to have psoriasis, while psoriasis patients are 1.64 times more likely to have gout and 4.68 times more likely to have hyperuricemia. These findings highlight the need for further research into the overlapping inflammatory pathways to improve clinical management of both conditions.
