TLDR Weight loss can lower AMH levels in overweight and obese women with PCOS.
The study investigated the impact of weight loss on serum anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels in overweight and obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It involved two parts: the first included 61 overweight and obese women with PCOS and 20 without, who followed a weight loss program with diet, exercise, and orlistat for six months. The second part involved 76 overweight and obese women with PCOS, who followed a similar program with sibutramine for one month. After randomization, 57 continued the program for another six months, while 19 continued with only diet and exercise. The study aimed to explore how these interventions affected AMH levels, which are typically higher in PCOS patients.
