TLDR Women with PCOS have significant metabolic issues like insulin resistance after eating a high-fat meal.
The study investigated the effects of a mixed meal on metabolic and hormonal parameters in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared to healthy controls. It involved 55 women with PCOS and 20 healthy controls who consumed a high-fat mixed meal. Measurements of sex hormones, glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides were taken at various intervals post-meal. The study aimed to understand the metabolic response and endothelial function in PCOS patients, highlighting the significant metabolic disorders associated with the syndrome, such as insulin resistance and dyslipidemia.
