Urimax D (Tamsulosin HCl/Dutasteride 0.4mg/0.5mg)
an oral product from Cipla
Urimax D is an oral medication containing 0.4mg of Tamsulosin HCl and 0.5mg of Dutasteride, manufactured by Cipla Pharmaceuticals. It is used to treat moderate to severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate gland. The combination of tamsulosin, an alpha-blocker, and dutasteride, a 5α-reductase inhibitor, helps relieve urinary retention symptoms by relaxing the smooth muscle in the prostate and reducing the size of the prostate gland. Tamsulosin works by blocking alpha-adrenergic receptors in the prostate, allowing the muscles to relax and easing the pressure on the urethra. Dutasteride inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), reducing prostate growth. This dual action improves urine flow and reduces the need for surgery. The tablets are formulated for modified release, requiring only one tablet per day.
