Hyphoral 200mg tablets contain ketoconazole, a synthetic broad-spectrum antifungal agent. They are used to treat severe systemic fungal infections in patients who cannot tolerate other treatments or where other treatments have failed. These infections include coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, and blastomycosis, which are caused by inhalation of spores from soil fungi. Ketoconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, leading to cell membrane weakening and fungal cell death. Hyphoral is not suitable for treating fungal meningitis as it cannot penetrate the nervous system. The product is manufactured by Ipca Labs and is available in strips of 10 tablets.
