in “International Journal of Research in Dermatology”
TLDR Amarantha hair oil contains β-sitosterol, which helps promote hair growth.
The study conducted by Ari Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. focused on the standardization of Amarantha hair oil, a herbal hair oil developed for treating dandruff, hair fall, and premature greying of hair. The oil was prepared using various herbal ingredients, with β-sitosterol identified as the active marker compound. The oil was evaluated for various parameters including appearance, weight per ml, refractive index, acid value, saponification value, peroxide value, and β-sitosterol content using high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC). The results showed that all parameters were within normal limits and the oil was stable in accelerated stability study. The oil was found to contain 0.52% of β-sitosterol. The study concluded that all the ingredients and Amarantha hair oil contain β-sitosterol, which helps in promoting hair growth.
