TLDR The material combining eggshell protein and scaffold helps wounds heal faster and regenerates tissue effectively.
The study "Smart Bio-Polymeric Matrix for Accelerated Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration" explores the use of Eggshell Membrane Protein (ESMP) in combination with an acellular scaffold for wound healing and tissue regeneration. The researchers modified an acellular scaffold with different concentrations of ESMP (5%, 7.5%, and 10%) and evaluated its effectiveness for tissue regeneration through various tests. The results showed that the modified scaffold had good biodegradability and biocompatibility, with excellent proliferation and attachment of fibroblast cells at a concentration of 5% ESMP. In vivo studies on albino mice showed that a full-thickness excisional wound healed within 14 days, with hair follicles regenerating neo-skin tissue without any immunogenicity and inflammation. The study concludes that the synergistic effect of ESMP and acellular matrix results in a cost-effective, biodegradable, biocompatible smart material potentially applicable for tissue regeneration.
