TLDR Acetone is not more effective than other degreasers and is more flammable.
The study assessed the influence of different degreasing agents on the efficacy of 35% trichloroacetic acid peels in six patients with androgenetic alopecia and actinic keratoses of the scalp. The degreasers tested were acetone, rubbing alcohol, Freon Skin Degreaser, and Hibiclens. The results indicated that acetone was not superior to the other agents in enhancing the peel's effectiveness. Additionally, acetone's significantly lower flashpoint made it more flammable and hazardous, suggesting that alternative degreasers could reduce or eliminate this risk in the workplace.
