TLDR Trace element levels in hair differ in people with thyroid diseases.
The study conducted neutron activation analyses on over 200 hair samples to measure the concentrations of various trace elements, including iodine, bromine, sodium, gold, zinc, copper, manganese, and sometimes selenium, in patients with thyroid diseases such as struma with euthyreosis, struma with increased iodine avidity, hyperthyreosis, and thyroid carcinoma. The control group included individuals with euthyreosis and a random group without apparent thyroid disease. This research aimed to explore the relationship between trace element concentrations in hair and thyroid conditions.
