Induction and reversal of pulmonary lipid histiocytosis in rats following oral administration of anorectics cloforex and chlorphentermine

TLDR Rats developed lung issues from the drugs, but these cleared quickly after stopping them.
The study investigated the effects of the anorectic drugs cloforex and chlorphentermine on pulmonary lipid histiocytosis in rats. Administered at various doses, these drugs induced hair loss, agitation, and suppressed weight gain and food consumption, effects that reversed quickly after stopping the drugs. Pulmonary lipid histiocytosis developed in a dose-dependent manner, particularly at higher doses, but cleared within 2 weeks post-treatment. Despite pronounced lipid histiocytosis, no pulmonary hypertension was observed. The study concluded that the induction of pulmonary lipid histiocytosis and pulmonary hypertension were independent events, and that rats were resistant to the anorectic effects of these drugs.
