TLDR Polycaprolactone gel is effective and safe for treating nasolabial folds.
This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of polycaprolactone gel for treating moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds (NLFs) in Chinese patients. Conducted across three centers, 160 patients were randomized into two groups: polycaprolactone and control (sodium hyaluronate gel). At 12 months, the polycaprolactone group showed an 88.8% effectiveness rate in the Wrinkle Severity Rating Score (WSRS), significantly higher than the 23.8% in the control group. The polycaprolactone group maintained improvements over 12 months, unlike the control group, where effects diminished after 3 months. Investigator assessments indicated sustained aesthetic improvements in the polycaprolactone group. Adverse event rates were low, with 8.8% in the polycaprolactone group and 11.3% in the control group. The study concluded that polycaprolactone gel is an effective and safe treatment for NLFs in this population.
