This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of minoxidil combined with hydrochlorothiazide in 8 moderately hypertensive out-patients over 5 months. The treatment resulted in a moderate decrease in blood pressure with minimal side effects, including mild exertional tachycardia and a mean weight gain of 0.5 kg. Notably, the only female patient experienced slight, reversible facial hair growth. No oedema, cardiac insufficiency, or blood test abnormalities were observed. The study concluded that minoxidil with a diuretic could be successfully used in treating moderately hypertensive male patients.
