Scalp Med is a commercially marketed DHT inhibitor, growth stimulant and vasodilator. It is applied topically.
Scalp Med was developed by Shane Malek, director of a hair transplant office called the Nevada Hair and Scalp Institute. It is marketed and produced by Modern Health Labs, Inc, a Culver City, California based company that was established in 2000.
Scalp Med is frequently advertised on late-night television informercials. It is essentially just dressed up Minoxidil (Named "Theroxidil" in their sales literature) mixed with a large array of mostly useless ingredients. The only exception to this is probably Sabal Serrulata (Saw Palmetto) and Beta-sitosterol, which by themselves are nowhere near as effective as Minoxidil.
Scalp Med flirts with calling itself "FDA-approved", but this is only true in that Minoxidil is the active ingredient and is itself approved. Modern Health Labs was reprimanded for specious claims in October, 2006 by the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Beaureaus. [1]
Inspired by Scalp Med, some users have taken it upon themselves to mix Saw Palmetto and Beta-sitosterol into cheaper Minoxidil products.
